The Million Doors Moment

The week of June 8 was the biggest of the quarter: 17 posts, 12.8K impressions, and 5 of the quarter's 13 new follows, capped by the 1 Million Doors announcement on June 13, the single biggest post of the cycle at 3,919 impressions. Field milestones are the content engine. The five days around the announcement generated 20% of the entire quarter's reach.

Peak day: June 13

5 posts, 5,610 impressions. The doors announcement alone out-performed the median post by 10x.

Volume compounds

Weekly post count vs total weekly reach correlates at 0.72. More shots on goal means more total eyeballs, every week.

Hits carry the feed

The top 10% of posts drove 36% of all impressions. Breakouts happen when there is a real moment to announce.

What Content Wins

Grassroots proof beats talking points. Photo recaps from events earned a 10.4% engagement rate and 10 reposts per 1,000 impressions, the strongest amplification of any format. Generic candidate and issue messaging, 71 of 113 posts, had the lowest reach and engagement of any bucket.

Send the photos

Only 2 photo recap posts all quarter, and they were the #1 format. The single biggest untapped opportunity for state teams.

Primary nights land

The Hinson primary win congrats hit a quarter-best 19.1% engagement rate. Endorsements and congrats posts also drove the most profile visits per impression.

Energy reads

Posts with ALL CAPS moments ran 8.4% vs 6.7% without. The 🚨 siren posts ran 8.2% vs 6.8%. Urgency works.

State Scoreboard

Michigan and New Hampshire lead on raw reach, Iowa leads on efficiency. Montana is the flag: 4.5% engagement vs 6 to 7.5% everywhere else, worth a content refresh.

How People Engage

36% of all engagement is detail expands, people stopping to read the whole post, and another 10% is profile visits. The audience is reading and checking the account out; the next job is converting that attention into follows and clicks.

The Playbook for August

  1. Feed the photo pipeline. Every state event should send 3 to 5 photos same-day. Recaps were the top format all quarter and we only ran two of them.
  2. Build to the next milestone. The doors countdown was the quarter's engine. Tease 1.5M doors early and often; announcement days earn 10x median reach.
  3. Own primary nights. Congrats posts convert attention into profile visits better than anything else. Have them drafted before polls close.
  4. Keep the cadence up. Weekly volume drives weekly reach at 0.72 correlation. June's 49-post pace produced 9 of 13 new follows.
  5. Refresh Montana. Alme content trails every other race. Test the formats winning elsewhere: field photos, milestone energy, earned media clips.

The 90-Second Version

What the numbers say is working, what's quietly wasting our reach, and the things we need from your field teams to keep this engine running. Every figure below is pulled from the last 12 weeks of the AFP Action account.

✅ What's Working

  • Boots on the groundField & photo posts engaged at 7.5% vs 5.4% for generic messaging. The quarter's #1 post was a door-knocking photo from NH at 22.8%.
  • Event photo recapsNearly 2x the engagement of talking points, and the strongest amplification — most reposts per view — of any format.
  • Election-night congratsPrimary-win posts drove the most profile visits of any format. Hinson's win hit 19.1%.
  • Milestone momentsThe 1 Million Doors run was the biggest reach of the quarter and drove 5 of our 13 new follows.

⚠️ What's Not

  • Naked links & photos11 posts were a bare link or image with no words. They averaged 192 impressions — 65% below average. Wasted reach.
  • Generic talking points47% of all posts were generic issue messaging — the lowest-engaging tier and below average on follows.
  • Teasers to nowhere"Something big is coming" posts pulled clicks from existing fans but reached the fewest new people and added zero follows.
  • Flat follower growthJust 13 new follows in 12 weeks. Talking points don't grow the account — proof and milestones do.

🎯 What We Need From You

  • Same-day field photos3–5 shots from every event, sent the day of. The single highest-value thing you can hand us.
  • A caption with every photoOne line — who, where, why. Never a bare image or link.
  • Your primary & election calendarFlag key nights in advance with a fact or two, so a congrats post is ready before polls close.
  • Local handles to tagCandidate, local partners, and validators. Tagged local posts consistently outperformed.
  • Earned-media clipsSend local press hits — op-eds, TV, quotes. Amplifying them worked every time.
